A thoughtful and beautifully acted comic drama, Beginners stars Ewan McGregor as a Los Angeles man whose budding relationship with a French actress (Melanie Laurent) is made complicated by his continuing grief over his dead father. In a flashback dual narrative, Academy Award-nominee Christopher Plummer portrays the recently deceased, a charismatic figure who surprises his son by coming out as gay just before succumbing to cancer.
